Vietnam War Webquest and Student Presentation
You have the task to learn about the Vietnam War. Each task that you do will be put into a PowerPoint, Comic Book, or into a Newspaper style of format. Students should be expected to present their project to the entire class. You will be expected to perform the tasks to accumulate the most amount of points possible. Here's what I am looking for:
1. Each person shows a willingness to accomplish each task by staying focused without disrupting others in class.
2. Projects are visually appealing. That means pictures are appropriate and the colors, font, and font size can be seen on the Smart Board. Hint: Use contrasting colors, such as a light color font on a dark background.
3. You will have to be patient. I will be walking around to monitor and help each person. Work on your project until I can get to your table. Don't call out to get my attention.
4. This is a research project. That means the answers won't always be easy to find. You will have to do some reading to get the information that your group needs.
5. There are links for you to use for each task. You may search for more if you need to. Note: Inappropriate websites (music, social networking, etc.) will not be tolerated. If you choose to not use the computer for the intended use, an alternate assignment will be given to you that you will have to write on paper, and still present it to the class.
6. If you get done early, you are expected to work on making a test of 25 questions for the Vietnam book that I have provide for you. You may choose 15 multiple choice and 9 true/false or 15 true/false and 9 multiple choice. The last question will be an essay question.

Step 1: Vietnamese Immigrant
For this task, you will create a page or more that accurately answers all of the questions. Be sure to add pictures that are relevant to this topic, but be aware to not use font or colors that will be difficult to see on the SmartBoard.

Step 2: Historian
Here your task will be simple. Just like you and your family have a history in America, Vietnam has a very strong history. Perhaps, that is why they did not want someone else telling them what to do and how to live. You will find out. Answer all of the questions to help you add more information to your project.

Step 3: War Protester
Protest? We protest to allow teachers to let us chew gum in class. We protest to get out of uniforms and have dress-down days. Well, there are bigger things to protest about; the death of innocent people, civil rights, having soldiers stop fighting overseas, and the list can go on. It seems that protesting in America is a thing of the past. In the Middle East, we see violent protest everyday it seems. During the Vietnam War, there was a great deal of protesting. Now, it's your turn to find the answer to some questions.

Step 4: Vietnam Veteran
So, what is it like to not know if you will see the sun rise the next day? Or what is like to lose a friend to the enemy? I have an uncle that fought for many years in the Vietnam War. And, he has never told me anything! The only stories that I have heard is from family members that claim that my uncle was right on the front lines and saw many of his closest friends become casualties to the war. He made back to the U.S. after the war with only some shrapnel wounds for explosives that hit him. However, his soul seems like it was left in Vietnam. Sometimes, we look at the trouble in our lives, but we cannot forget the people that fought and died for us to be here today and to be FREE! Maybe you can find some stories from soldiers that fought in the war. Give it a try!
